How Gamification and Rewards Work Together Within Townee

Gamification + Rewards

Customers crave meaningful interactions with your business. Many of your best customers, however, sit on the sideline waiting because you don’t have the right tools in place to motivate them along their customer journey.

With a new customer engagement tool like Townee, your business can gain deep insights about customers, what motivates them and make their experience a memorable one by using a mix of gamification, points/stars, rewards, recognition and exclusive access to products or experiences.

Unfortunately, most businesses think their current “customer engagement” outreach is enough and many are unclear on their return on investment with most of their marketing efforts all together.

At Townee, we’ve learned that gamification should go hand-in-hand with reward experiences that move customers along their journey with your business. And this is where targeted engagement with real, referral-based rewards — like what Townee is built on — comes into play.

Townee rewards

From immersing ourselves in the food industry, fitness industry and more, we’ve dug deep and designed a reward system that’s appropriate for any customer community. At inBloom Juicery, a restaurant owned by Townee founder JR Ricker, customers and advocates earn points for completing to-dos ranging from a social media post touting the juice bar to a referral code bringing lots of friends through the doors. After earning enough points (and in turn bringing extra revenue for the business), advocates redeemed points for rewards such as free or discounted juice and smoothies.

This precise strategy can extend into any customer community and any business

Gamification within Townee

Gamification is an integral part of the the Townee rewards experience, which uses friendly competition and points (called Townee Brownie Points) to build authentic and effective customer engagement.

Members of our app — your current or future customers — complete highly targeted requirements (posting on their social media for you, sending out referral promo codes, and attending live events to name a few). In turn, they earn points for completing these requirements.

Within Townee, gamification can take many forms. Here are a couple of the bigger gamified features that Townee includes:

Fun & competition: Townee rewards introduce an element of fun into partnering with you — the local business. Anytime a Townee user logs on, they’ll never know what offer from their favorite local business is available! Seeing their “Townee Brownie Points” adding up is a fun way to incentivize them to continue referring friends as well.

Exclusivity: Customers love the exclusivity of an “elite club”. In addition to the the exclusive rewards they can claim, it makes them feel that they share a special relationship with your business and that goes a long way in building trust & loyalty. Townee includes exclusivity through limiting the number of claims OR adding the option for a “minimum follower requirement” to claim certain rewards.

For inBloom Juicery, gamifying a “free acai bowl” campaign means including an Instagram follower requirement to claim, only allowing a select number to claim, providing a unique “free PB drizzle” promo code to each Townee user to offer their friends, and tracking redemptions of the promo code in exchange for Townee Brownie Points. Townee users refer hundreds of friends, compete with one another and with theirselves in order to earn coveted rewards, free acai bowls.

Combining rewards + gamification

As shown with the above example at inBloom Juicery, Townee uniquely combines rewards and gamification into the overall customer journey. We can help any business in any market determine which motivator to use with each customer at each stage of the customer journey. For a juice bar, it may be referrals in exchange for a free acai bowl. For a yoga studio, it may be an Instagram post from a highly influential local on top of referral points.

The ways we should be marketing our businesses are changing. It’s time to go above and beyond traditional marketing by connecting with our best customers & biggest advocates currently waiting on the sidelines, and deliver a mutually beneficial customer experience.

It’s time to let your community become the revenue driver your customers want & business needs.
