Local NCAA NIL Collaborations

As a former student-athlete that grew frustrated with the NIL (name, image & likeness) rules of the NCAA, I've never been more excited to share that through Townee App, we're helping student athletes starting at Indiana University begin connecting & collaborating with business owners in Bloomington and across the state.

During my time at IU on the track & cross country teams, unless you were a running fan there was a 99% chance we didn't know one another.

Despite that, after a social media post in 2013 (attached) promoting my startup that shipped beet juice across the country to endurance athletes called Beet Competitor LLC, I was asked to hold off on the startup dream until after college.

Our compliance team was simply looking out for my eligibility, so I was definitely grateful for them, but also very frustrated with the NCAA rule at the time.

As most know by now, the game has changed and student-athletes are now able to profit from their name, image & likeness.

This means they can freely start a side hustle, sign a jersey, post on social media to promote another business & many more options.

The #1 problem I'm seeing is that 99% of student athletes don't have local or online brands knocking at their doors ready to partner.

The reality is that most will have to continue growing their brand and then likely go out and recruit themselves.

With that said, using the connections we've built throughout Indiana the last 12 years, we're hoping to use Townee to help as many student-athletes as possible begin connecting & collaborating with local biz owners.
